Brief Introduction
Hon. Justice Bright N. L. Deemua, Judge, Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal. Born on 2nd August 1966, at Kpong Community, then Bori Division, now Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State. Had Primary School Education at State School Kor/Kpong from 1971 to 1976. Secondary School Education at the prestigious Government Sea School Isaka from September 1976 to June 1981. Had employment at Acetoys & Plastics, Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt between 1983 to 1987. Thereafter worked with Tractor & Equipment Division of UAC Nigeria Ltd, Kano Branch 1988 to 1989. Studied Law at the Rivers State University of Science & Technology (now Rivers State University), Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, 1989 to 1994 (courtesy of ASUU June 12 Strike 1993) for the LLB Program. Nigerian Law School 1994 to 1995 BL. Called to Bar on 22nd March 1995. Commenced and completed the compulsory National Service in the NYSC program from June 1995 to May 1996 at Anambra State. Commenced active private legal practice from then, till appointment to the Bench on 29th July 2016 to the Customary Court of Appeal, Rivers State. Served as a member of the Editorial Board of Kings Law Report from 1995 to 1999; Junior Counsel in Chambers of Dr. RC Chukwudebelu & Co; No. 9 Enugu Road Onitsha 1995 – 1997; began own Law Firm BNL Deemua & Co (Dominion Chambers) August 1997 – 2000; Relocated to Port Harcourt, Rivers State 2000. Had short stints with Joi Yowika & Co from there to Celestine Omehia & Associates No. 1, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt late 2000 to October 2001. November 2001, reopened my law Firm, BNL Deemua & Co (Dominion Chambers) and maintained active private legal practice thereat until appointment in July 2016. Currently a
Member IDRI (International Dispute Resolution Institute). Worship at, and
serving as a Pastor, with the Deeper Life Bible Church. Married and blessed with Four Children (2 Boys and 2 girls).
