Brief Introduction
HON. JUSTICE FRANK ONYIRI, DSSRS
Was Born on the 26th day of January, 1970 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. I am married to Mrs. Felicia Kambiri Onyiri and the marriage is blessed with four children. I attended several primary schools including St. Paul’s Primary School Ahoada and obtained my First School Leaving Certificate in 1982. Similarly, I attended several secondary schools including University Demonstration Secondary School Port Harcourt and obtained my WAEC O’ level certificate in 1988. Thereafter, I proceeded to the University of Calabar and obtained my LL.B in 1996. I was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1998. In the same 1998, I fulfilled the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corp scheme where I served in a private law firm in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; Sunny Worenwu & Associates. I was a member of the Nigerian Bar Association Ahoada Branch where I served as the branch secretary from 2009 to 2011. I am an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), 2004. Participated in six months post graduate training programme in legislative drafting at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (N.I.A.L.S.) Lagos Nigeria 2000 – 2001. Obtained a Certificate on Labour Laws and Employment Regulations in a Democratic Society from Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin – December 15th – 18th, 2015.
Employed into the service of the Government of Rivers State of Nigeria as a State Counsel in the Rivers State Ministry of Justice on 18th May, 1999 and rose to the substantive position of an Assistant Director and an appointive position of Acting Deputy Director of Civil Litigations, a position I held until 26th March, 2018 when I was appointed a Judge to the bench of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State of Nigeria. Served as a member of the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria 2019. Served as Chairman Local Government Election Appeal Tribunal, Rivers State, Nigeria in 2021. I was conferred with the Rivers State Honours’ Award; Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) on the 3rd day of December, 2022. I Had a brief stint as a member of the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Awka, Anambra State of Nigeria in April 2023 but was soon redeployed to Ondo State where I am currently serving as member of the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, Akure, Ondo State of Nigeria.
