Hon. Justice Odiki Daniel-Kalio was born in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria to Pharmacist Geoffrey Kalio Daniel-Kalio (of blessed memory) and Mrs. Koru Daniel-Kalio, both from Okrika,Rivers State. His Lordship attended, Township School, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt for his Primary Education, where he obtained his FSLC, 1974 He later proceeded to the renowned Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls’ School, Elelenwo, Rivers State where he obtained his WASC, O’ Level, in 1979; thereafter, he enrolled at the Rivers State School of Basic Studies, Port Harcourt, where he acquired the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), A’ Level Certificate in 1980. His Lordship, proceeded to the University of Lagos and upon graduation, obtained a B.A (Hons) Degree in History in 1983. Upon completion of the NYSC, in Owerri, Imo state, in the 1983-I984 batch, His Lordship, thereafter, proceeded to the University of Benin, Edo State, where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons.) Degree from the University of Benin, Edo State in 1991; thereafter, he enrolled at the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, sat the requisite Nigerian Bar Examinations, and acquired the Barrister-at-Law (BL) certificate, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993. His Lordship, did the mandatory Law School chambers attachment, at Okocha & Okocha (Manuchim Chambers), Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 1992.
Prior to his appointment, as a Magistrate, in the Rivers state Judiciary, His Lordship, was employed by Peak Merchant Bank Ltd, and worked as Executive trainee/Legal officer in their Port Harcourt branch.
He moved on to a more challenging role, as a pioneer staff of the Open Society Initiative, West Africa (OSIWA), a part of the West African Network of The George Soro’s Foundation, the world over. (A grantee organization; whose core areas of interest include promoting/creating awareness of democratic norms, good governance, the rule of law, widespread civic participation, and justice and accountability) as a Special Consultant, in their Maitama office, FCT, Abuja in the year,2000.
Hon. Justice Odiki, served for over 14 years, in the course of his career as a Magistrate; and was later, appointed Deputy Chief Registrar (Administration) of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal in July, 2015. In November, 2017, he was appointed, Chief Registrar (Acting), and confirmed, as substantive Chief Registrar, Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal, in January, 2019; a position, he held until his elevation to the Higher Bench, in February, 2023, as a Judge of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal by the grace of the Almighty God.
